Deze ongewone rode wijn combineert de wijnbouwtradities van Moldavië, Oekraïne en Georgië dankzij het trio van druivenrassen uit deze verschillende landen. Het belangrijkste ingrediënt is Bastardo, gevolgd door de Georgische druif Saperavi en een druppel van de lokale Moldavische Rara Neagra-variëteit. Het fruit wordt verbouwd op het landgoed van Chateau Purcari, vlakbij de Zwarte Zee, en wordt zorgvuldig met de hand geoogst om de kwaliteit te waarborgen.

Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij worden de druiven gevinifieerd volgens lokale wijnbouwtechnieken en de jonge wijn wordt vervolgens 12 maanden overgebracht naar Franse eikenhouten vaten. Het resultaat is een intense en schitterende rode wijn met een geheel eigen karakter met veel tonen van donkere kersen, bramen en cassis en hints van rode peper, leer en aardse bosgrond. De stevige tannines en de volle body maken dit een geweldige wijn om nu van te genieten naast stevige rode vleesgerechten of om nog een tiental jaren in de kelder te bewaren.

Chateau Purcari is het oudste wijnhuis van Moldavië met een geschiedenis die teruggaat tot een officieel decreet van tsaar Nicolaas I in 1827. In de 19e eeuw beleefde het landgoed een gouden tijd en won het in heel Europa medailles met zijn uitzonderlijke wijnen. Meer recent beleeft Chateau Purcari een opleving in binnen- en buitenland en wint het tal van medailles bij de Decanter World Wine Awards in 2019 en 2020.
