    Rode wijnen

    Rode wijnen

    Rode wijnen worden gemaakt door het sap te laten macereren op de schil, waardoor veel intense smaken, kleurstoffen en tannines worden geëxtraheerd. Daarom zijn rode wijnen vaak brutaler van smaak en kleur dan veel witte wijnen. Het is gebruikelijk om rode wijnen langere tijd in eiken vaten te laten rijpen om de tannines te verzachten en extra complexiteit en glans toe te voegen. U kunt rode wijnen kopen en combineren met vleeswaren, gebarbecued en gegrild rood vlees en stevige pastagerechten op basis van tomaten.

    Belangrijke rode wijngebieden

    Bekende rode wijngebieden zijn Bourgondië in Frankrijk, dat bekend staat om zijn elegante Pinot Noir, en Bordeaux, dat prestigieuze rode blends produceert die tientallen jaren oud kunnen worden. Andere belangrijke regio's voor rode wijn zijn de Franse Rhônevallei, Napa Valley in Californië, de Barossa Valley in Australië, Rioja en Ribera del Duero in Spanje, en Barolo en Toscane in Italië, waar u de beste rode wijn kunt kopen.

    Rode Wijn Druivensoorten

    Rode wijnen worden gewoonlijk gemaakt van zwarte druivenrassen, hoewel sommige een kleine hoeveelheid witte druiven bevatten. Zo bevatten rode wijnen uit Chateauneuf-du-Pape vaak wat Grenache Blanc of Roussanne. De bekendste rassen die voor rode wijnen worden gebruikt zijn Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Sangiovese en Tempranillo. Er zijn ook honderden minder bekende inheemse druivenrassen, zoals Blaufrankisch uit Midden-Europa, Touriga Nacional uit Portugal en Dolcetto uit Italië.
