    Collectible wines are typically made with great care and attention to detail in very small quantities. These wines are often made with the very best grapes sourced from the world's most prized vineyards. Once in the winery they are vinified using state-of-the-art equipment and aged in prime oak barrels or tanks.

    Waarom zijn verzamelwijnen zo gewild?

    Verzamelwijnen worden door wijnverzamelaars gewaardeerd omdat ze zeldzaam, moeilijk te vinden en zeer gewild zijn. Ze worden vaak voor langere tijd in eiken vaten gerijpt en kunnen tientallen jaren in de kelder rijpen. Veel verzamelaars kopen dit soort wijnen kort nadat ze zijn uitgebracht om ze in hun eigen kelder te bewaren, omdat het erg moeilijk en duur is om rijpe verzamelwijnen op de open markt te verkrijgen. Verzamelwijnen worden vaak gekocht voor speciale gelegenheden zoals de geboorte van een kind of een huwelijk met het idee dat men er vele jaren later nog van kan genieten.

    Belangrijke regio's voor verzamelwijnen

    De belangrijkste wijngebieden voor verzamelwijnen zijn Bourgondië en Bordeaux in Frankrijk en Barolo en Toscane in Italië. Deze regio's zijn allemaal de thuisbasis van prestigieuze producenten die kleine hoeveelheden zeer populaire wijnen en zeldzame vintage wijnen maken die meestal worden verkocht op een strikte toewijzingsbasis.
