    Geschiedenis

    Het wijnhuis Capannelle ligt op 20 hectare grond in de streek Gaiole in Chianti, Siena. Voorheen eigendom van Raffaele Rossetti, die een 16e eeuwse boerderij kocht, begon de productie van het wijnhuis in 1974 en de eerste Chianti werd uitgebracht in 1975. Sinds het bescheiden begin is het wijnhuis uitgegroeid tot producent van een Chardonnay IGT, Solare IGT, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG en een rode 50&50, een blend van Merlot en Sangiovese. Het idee voor de 50&50 blend werd geïnspireerd door een uitzonderlijke oogst in 1988 en bevat een Avignonesi di Montepulciano-geproduceerde Merlot, een mix van het beste van twee werelden. De productie van Capannelle gaat verder dan alleen wijn en levert jaarlijks 800 liter extra vergine olijfolie op.

    De wijnmakerij van Capannelle richt zich op de toepassing van een hoogtechnologische benadering van de wijnproductie en op zorgvuldige aandacht voor het rijpingsklimaat. De gistingsvaten zijn van roestvrij staal en alle leidingen en kleppen zijn van roestvrij staal, om een hygiënische en gesloten omgeving te garanderen en het parfum van de wijn niet te veranderen. Er wordt een microklimaat gecreëerd doordat de barriquekelder zich 3 meter onder de grond bevindt, met klimaatbeheersing om het juiste niveau van temperatuur en vochtigheid te garanderen. De wijn rijpt in houten vaten, perfect voor de Chardonnay en Solare wijnen, en de barriques voor witte wijn worden elk jaar vervangen, terwijl de barriques voor rode wijn om de twee jaar worden vervangen.
